Vietnam and Belgium have agreed to boost cooperation in the priority fields of politics, economics, education and training, and culture in the near future.
The agreement was reached at talks between Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Belgian Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Didier Reynders, in Hanoi on Mar. 13.
They also agreed to increase the exchange of delegations and host activities to mark the 40 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties in 2013.
Reynders expressed his impression of important socio-economic achievements made by Vietnam, which he said have contributed to enhancing Vietnam’s position in the region and the world.
The two sides said foreign ministries need to play a leading role in promoting cooperation through regularly sharing experience and cooperating in research and training.
In addition to discussing issues of mutual concern, they pledged to work closely at international and regional forums, especially within the framework of the United Nations, ASEAN, European Union and Asia Europe Meeting, as well as affirming support to each other in running for election to the UN Human Rights Council.
