Vietnam always attaches importance to developing relations with countries in Southeast Asia for the sake of peace, development and cooperation in the region and for each country’s stability and growth.

Vietnamese officials from the Commission for External Relations of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee made the remarks during working sessions with Filipino politicians, diplomats and parliamentarians, which formed part of their working visit to the Philippines from March 6-10.

They held talks with the Liberal Party’s delegation led by its President Mar Roxas and met with President of the House of Representatives Sonny Del Monte, Foreign Minister Albert Del Rosario, and Senator Franklin Drilon among others.

The Filipino leaders and Vietnamese officials talked about recent developments in their respective countries and discussed regional and international issues of common concern.

The two sides also discussed measures to promote the ties between the parties and the multi-dimensional cooperation between the two countries, agreeing to speed up diplomatic relations of the parties and states and exchanges between people.

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh in Manila, met with officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in the Philippines, and visited the International Rice Research Institute.
