Tran Thi Hanh, 33, died at Thong Nhat General Hospital after 12 days of treatment.
Hanh was admitted on August 19 when doctors found she had kidney failure.
She suffered a heart attack during the treatment and on August 27 was transferred to the cardiology ward, where the small speaker in the room fell onto her head.
The incident worsened her conditions and she died four days later.
Pham Van Dung, director of the hospital, said in a VnExpress report that the incident was "unexpected."
"Hanh died as she had many serious diseases and she was very weak. The speaker made it worse," Dung said, adding that he has had all the speakers at the hospital checked to prevent further incidents.
Her family said they will not file a complaint.
