(ĐN)- Two rehab centres using the methadone treatment method will be opened in Long Khanh town and Long Thanh district in 2015, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri said at the meeting with Department of Health on May 26.
He also called on further efforts from press agencies, localities and police force to expand methadone treatment for drug addicts.
The province now has two clinics providing methadone therapy for around 600 addicts. Together with psychosocial therapies, methadone has been proven to be an effective method in helping improve the overall health of drug users, reduce crimes and slow the incidence rate of HIV transmission and other blood-borne diseases.
