Int'l Experimental Theater Festival expected to achieve breakthroughs

The 4th International Experimental Theater Festival held in Hanoi on October 4-13 is expected to achieve breakthroughs in the body language and richen theatrical languages.

The festival introduces 21 plays in different types of theater arts, including drama, tragedy, comedy, circus, puppetry, folk theatre forms of and among. They are performed by 14 troupes from host Vietnam, and seven others from Hungary, Israel, India, the Republic of Korea, China, Singapore, and Greece.

Vietnamese art groups include Thang Long Water Puppet Theater, VOV (The Voice of Vietnam) Theater, Vietnam Cai Luong Theater, Vietnam Cheo Theater, Le Ngoc Theater, VietNam Circus Federation, Vietnam Puppet Theater,Stage and Development Center, Dong Nai Art Theater, World of Youth Drama Troupe under the Stage and Movie University of Ho Chi Minh.
 
The creativity and breakthroughs in language aiming at improving the art language are some of criteria for choosing best plays in the contest, stressed People's Artist Le Tien Tho, Chairman of Vietnam Stage Artists' Association.
For these reasons, the organization board has made every effort in guaranteeing stage techniques like lighting, music, sound, but special art lightning systems that domestic theaters have not equipped to handle what international art troupes require. It shows that local stages lack the technological capabilities to upgrade or diversify their techniques, added Meritorious Artist Le Chuc.

Organized by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Performing Arts Department, the festival is described as an opportunity to introduce the outstanding values of traditional and contemporary Vietnamese theatrical art to international friends, as well as giving a chance for local and foreign artists to exchange and present their works with each other.
