Team sponsors have promised cash awards amounting to more than VND2.1 billion (US$90,600) for a gold medal, according to the Vietnam Shooting Federation, with VND660 million for a silver, and VND376 million for a bronze.
Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Shooting Federation Nguyen Thi Nhung said to prepare for the Games, the team has been training and taking part in tournaments since the beginning of this year.
The Vietnamese team has 18 athletes who will compete in the men’s and women’s pistol and rifle, and the men’s skeet and trap events. They will leave for training in the Republic of Korea before travelling to Indonesia for the ASIAD.
Vietnam’s highest ever shooting achievement was a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympic in Brazil won by Hoang Xuan Vinh in the men’s 10m air pistol.
