The event titled "Ngot ngao huong sac phuong Nam" was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the provincial People’s Committee between April 14 and May 16.

Music bands from provinces famous for traditional art attended the festival. The provinces include An Giang, Ben Tre, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Long An, Vinh Long, Tien Giang and Binh Duong. HCM City was also represented.

Organisers said the event was organised to welcome the upcoming national election. This is also preparation for Bình Dương to organise the second national Don ca tai tu Festival in 2017.
