The annual tournament which is held by Vietnam Athletics Federation and Dong Nai provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attracted 473 young athletes aged 12-17, representing 51 delegations from across the country, competing for 66 sets of medals in categories of hurdle, jogging, long jump, high jump, triple jump, short-put, javelin and discus throwing.
At the end of the competition, HCM city scored 10 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze medals to rank first, followed by Vinh Long and Ha Noi. The hosts Dong Nai bagged one silver medal to place 33rd out of 51 teams in the final rankings.
The championship, which runs until March 14, aims to promote the athletics training movement in society as well as offer a good chance for young Vietnamese athletes to practice and sharpen their skills, and select best athletes for the forthcoming international athletic competitions.
