Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Vo Van Thuong addresses the 11th Party Congress of Dong Nai on October 15.

He made the comments during a speech at the 11th Congress of Dong Nai provincial Party Organization for the 2020-2025 tenure, which officially opened on October 15 and gathered together 348 delegates.

He spoke highly of the province’s achievements in the 2015-2020 tenure, noting it grew quickly, posting impressive numbers at each turn.

Secretary Vo Van Thuong stressed that over the past five years, the provincial Party Organization, authorities, army and people have upheld revolutionary tradition and strived to realize the Resolution adopted at the 10th Congress of the provincial Party Organization and that by the 12th National Party Congress, fulfilled 18 out of the 20 targets in the Resolution by the 10th Congress of the provincial Party Organization.

Dong Nai's average GRDP growth rate in the 2015-2020 period was 8.14 percent. It was ranked among provinces and cities with the highest GRDP growth in the country.

It also took the lead in new-style rural area building with 43 communes meeting criteria of a model new-style rural area.

The province approved a plan to restructure the agriculture sector to foster the development of sustainable agriculture, shifting from quantity to quality and from chemical agriculture to organic and hi-tech agriculture.

Socio-culture, health care, education-training, and science-technology continued progressing. Party and administration building work recorded meaningful results.

On this occasion, the Secretary went on to emphasize a number of shortcomings facing the province. Accordingly, local economic growth is yet to be on par with potential and the province’s special position.

He urged local authorities to tackle bottlenecks hindering improvements in traffic infrastructure, human resources, administrative reform, and the business climate.

He recommended it focus on harmonizing socio-economic development and environmental protection.

In the next five years, the Party Organization of Dong Nai province needs to define four breakthrough areas: mobilizing resources for developing synchronous and modern infrastructure, especially for connecting regional transport and urban and rural traffic; organic and hi-tech agriculture; the agricultural product processing industry and services for agriculture; and modern services, especially logistics.

To complete targets and orientations, Thuong urged the 11th-tenure Party Committee and each delegate to promptly and effectively materialize the resolution adopted at the Congress.

Specific plans and projects are needed to soon bring the resolution to life, he emphasized.
