Dong Nai, one of Vietnam’s leading provinces in industrial development and economic growth, has numerous advantages to attract foreign investment.
In addition to having a favorable location and abundant natural resources, Dong Nai boasts a rich history and culture which create prerequisites for the province to boost its growth and external relations.
Over the past years, Dong Nai has promoted the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, openness, diversification and multilateralization of external relations, and active international integration embracing the motto “Vietnam is ready to be a friend and reliable partner to every country in the world community”.

To date, 42 countries and territories have invested in Dong Nai. Tran Quoc Toan, Deputy Director of the provincial External Relations Department, said, “Dong Nai is ready to befriend all partners with a view to mutual benefit. We aim to enhance cooperation to boost economic, cultural, and social development and acquire technology. We are working to improve the investment climate and ready to work with foreign businesses. We consider their benefits ours.”
Dong Nai has set a target of attracting at least 1 billion USD in foreign direct investment annually and has already exceeded that target.
Ho Van Ha, Director of the provincial Planning and Investment Department, attributed the achievements to the province’s policy of creating favorable conditions for businesses.
“Any issues relating to business development also concern the development of the province. For that reason, the province’s Party Committee and People’s Committee prioritizes support for businesses. Every year, Dong Nai organizes meetings with FDI enterprises to understand their problems and propose practical solutions,” said Ha.
The province has also strengthened people-to-people diplomacy to promote its rich cultural tradition and strong international integration. The Dong Nai Union of Friendship Organizations has established relationships with consuls general and established 9 member friendship associations.
When the COVID-19 epidemic broke out, the provincial Union of Friendship Organization donated 6,000 antibacterial face masks to the consulates of Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, Russia, and France, and to a number of foreign NGOs in HCMC.
Mr. Toan said the province aims to enhance foreign relations in realizing goals of economic and cultural development and further promote Vietnamese culture to the world, especially to young Vietnamese at home and abroad.
“Pursuant to the Politburo directive on multilateral foreign affairs, we will continue to increase multilateral diplomacy with organizations like the EU and ASEAN to boost local socio-economic development,” said Mr. Toan.
He added, “We will coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to consult the provincial Party Committee and People's Committee on organizing investment and trade promotion delegations to visit EU countries, Russia, and the US to attract investment in science and technology.”
With its own advantages, Dong Nai and other localities in Vietnam have strengthened external relations activities during the international integration. Its achievements over the past few years are the prerequisites for the province to realize its socio-economic development goals thus contributing to national growth.
