(ĐN)- Tran Gia, a maker of Banh Chung – a type of traditional rice cake for New Year celebrations in Vietnam- in Bien Hoa city will supply over 100 tonnes of Banh Chung, up 30 percent over the same period last year, to market to serve consumers during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
In the coming Tet, Tran Gia will reduce exporting Banh Chung to serve the domestic market. The prices for Banh Chung will remain unchanged compared with the normal days.
Tran Gia’s Banh Chung has been exported to 10 countries in the world and distributed in local big supermarket chains such as Metro, Big C, Co.opmart, Big C, Vinatex and LotteMart.
Banh Chung is a traditional cake eaten by Vietnamese people during the Tet holidays. It is made from glutinous rice, pork and green bean paste, and then wrapped in “dong” leaves, which gives the rice a green tint after being boiled for ten hours.
