(ĐN)- At present, the black pepper prices in Dong Nai go up to VND170,000-174,000 a kilogram, up VND 22,000-24,000 compared to the beginning of March 2016, said local pepper traders. The rise was due to the higher pepper prices in the global market.

In the first five months of the year, Dong Nai exported 3,400 tons of pepper, earning over US$30.3 million.

Vietnam also earned US$171 million from shipping abroad some 19,000 tonnes of pepper in May and continued taking the lead in pepper exports worldwide, according to Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The average pepper export price stood at nearly US$6,600 a ton in May, higher from US$900 per ton compared with the beginning months of the year. Vietnam’s largest pepper import markets are US, the United Arab Emirates, Germany and India.
