(ĐN)- Trong Duc Cocoa Co., Ltd in Dong Nai’s Dinh Quan district said that it has signed contracts to purchase 235 hectares of fresh cocoa with 315 farmers in Dong Nai, Binh Thuan and Lam Dong provinces.

Of the cocoa farmers, 50 percent have been recognized with globally-recognised UTZ quality control program which stands for fostering sustainable farming and bettering opportunities for farmers.
The company has also supported farmers with seedlings, fertilizers, provided technical support, and helped farmers to receive UTZ quality certification. Thanks to the effective of the program, farmers have so far registered to grow additional 200 hectares under cocoa trees.
Trong Duc planned to attract more than 400 farmer households to participate in the program with 100 percent of them have UTZ certificate. As far as known, the enterprise has inked contracts to export cocoa and coa products to Japan, Republic of Korea, along with promoting links with travel companies to bring their tourists to cocoa garden with the aim to increase economic value of local cocoa trees.
