(ĐN)- Vice Chairman of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Vinh yesterday chaired a working session on the preparation for the national seminar on Long Thanh International Airport.
Accordingly, the seminar is scheduled to be held in late October this year by the provincial People’s Committee and Lao Dong Newspaper with the participation of representatives from ministries, sectors, experts, scientists and journalists who will discuss and contribute their ideas for the implementation of the project.

The main issues to be discussed at the seminar will include information about Long Thanh International Airport, the framework on the compensation for site clearance for the project, resettlement of local residents to serve as a legal basis for the work, vocational training provided for people living in the affected areas.
Long Thanh International Airport will be built on 5,000 hectares of land in 6 communes of Long Thanh district. As many as 4,730 households with nearly 15,000 affected people in the district will be relocated to make room for construction of the project.
The project was approved by the National Assembly in June this year. Once completed, the airport will be able to handle 100 million passengers and five million tonnes of freight a year.
The construction is scheduled to begin in 2019 and the airport is likely to become operational by 2023.
The total cost of the three-phase project is estimated to be 336.63 trillion VND (14.95 billion USD). The project's funding is expected to come from the State budget, official development assistance (ODA), corporate investment and public-private partnership (PPP), among other resources.
