Presently, 7 out of 13 communes in Xuan Loc district have qualified as new rural areas; the remaining has satisfied 16-18 out of the 19 criteria for new rural development. In 2010-2014 period, the district mobilized more than VND3,636 billion to the new rural area building programme, focusing on infrastructure construction and rural economic development. Of the total, over VND2,347 billion came from local enterprises, around VND87 billion was contributed by local people.
It has made reasonable efforts to increase income for local farmers and improve their living condition. In particular, the value of agricultural production per ha in Long Thanh district reached VND115 million. The yearly average income of local farmers is VND35 million. The district aims to have additional four communes fulfill all the requirements by June 2015.
Speaking at the working session, Secretary Tran Dinh Thanh highly appreciated efforts made by the district in mobilizing all sources to participate in the construction of new-style rural areas. He also stressed that the Long Thanh should focus on developing high-tech agriculture in order to raise its value of agricultural production, increase income for local farmers. to continue applying technologies in production and offer more incentives for farmers
