(ĐN)- According to Dong Nai provincial Veterinary Department, the province's pig herd has reached more than 1.4 million, over 1 million higher the same period in 2014.
The increase of the pig herd is attributed the high prices of live pig during the last two years, making local farmers expand their pig breeding.
Presently, farmers in the province supply nearly 7,000 pigs every day to the market. The main markets of Dong Nai’s pigs are Ho Chi Minh city and neighboring provinces, accounting 60-70% of the total live pigs sold every day.
Dong Nai’s pigs are sold with higher prices, VND2,000-3000 per kg, than the other localities due to its more delicious quality of meat.
