Commodities showing sharp increases in export turnover were seafood (81%), iron and steel (78%), coffee (73%) and cashews (53%). Other commodities increased by 12-13%, such as; garments and textiles, footwear, wood products, computers, electronic products and devices and machinery.
Specifically, Dong Nai’s footwear export turnover in the first four months of this year posted close to USD640 million, up 15% over the previous year. Coffee export volume doubled from the same period last year, reaching 100,000 tonnes. The exported coffee price was over USD2,100 per tonne on average.
During the period, cashew nut export in the province grew to almost 7,900 tonnes, a 54 percent rise over a year earlier. Exported cashew nuts were priced at more than USD6,300 per tonne on average.
According to the Dong Nai Department of Industry and Trade, among 21 major export commodities, only six commodities saw year-on-year reduction in export turnover. Currently, Dong Nai is among the top ranked provinces and cities in export turnover.
Traders in Dong Nai retained stability in major markets of the US, Japan and the EU. In addition, they are penetrating into the potential markets of Eastern Europe, South American and the Middle East./.
