More than 60 workers in Dong Nai collapsed May 25, with a gas leak at a neighbouring company suspected as the cause.

At about 3:30pm, workers at Asia Garment Manufacture Vietnam Ltd. Co. and Nestle Company, at Amata Industrial Park, Bien Hoa District, felt dizzy and had trouble breathing. Many fled their workshops, but others collapsed before they could escape.

Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, head of the security team, from Asia Garment Manufacturer Vietnam said he and other team members detected gas from Amanda Foods Company, which is located next to the firm.

A security guard from Amanda Foods, which specializes in seafood production, told reporters the cause was a broken gas pipe.

Doctors at Dong Nai General Hospital said two of the workers were in serious condition, but were out of danger.

Police are investigating.
