In return, the New Zealand PM presented a shirt from her country’s national team to her counterpart PM Chinh.

Both leaders expressed their hope that the footballers from the two countries will play well at the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup which will be held in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.

The competition marks the first time that Vietnam has progressed to the finals of the prestigious international tournament.

Vietnam have been drawn in Group E and will take on defending champions the United States on July 22, the winner of a play-off match on July 27, followed by the Netherlands on August 1.

The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup will be the ninth edition of the global tournament, the quadrennial world championship for women’s national football teams organised by FIFA.

The 2023 tournament will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20, 2023. The event will be the first time that the FIFA Women's World Cup will have two host nations, with 32 teams competing for the trophy, instead of 24 as in previous editions.
