The local media reported that the district sped up the handover of the cleared site after the government had set deadlines for the province to finish the handover.
Of the 70 hectares, 59 hectares of land belongs to the first phase of the big-ticket airport project, while the remainder is of the second phase.
Over 2,240 hectares of 2,532 hectares of land set for the first phase of the project has been handed over, reaching nearly 90% of the total, according to the office of environment and natural resources in Long Thanh District.
The Long Thanh International Airport project will cover some 5,000 hectares of land and have an annual capacity of 100 million passengers and five million tons of cargo. The project needs some VND336.6 trillion, including over VND114 trillion, for the first phase.
